Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple relocated to Oxfordshire as a child when she enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She studied for a number of years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned singing and acting. As a ten year old, Emma had taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions, as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was the film of 2001 version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent through the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After eight continuous auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint they were cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The movie's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. It broke all records for its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and it also became one of the top 2001 films. The film was well-received by reviewers, and so were the performance of three young actors. The widely distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable.
